Today they finished all of the first floor and the flooring for the second floor. They also got the second floor dormers into position.
Uriah and I love wrap around porches but it wasn't feasible on this house, so we settled for oversized front and back porches. This angle gives you an idea of the size on the front porch.
The middle dormer will be my studio. It will have a large window to complement the entryway door directly below.

Since there are no stairs yet, we waited till the guys were finished before we climbed up to get a better view of the day's accomplishments.

There will be a computer desk in this area for the kids.
As some you may have noticed, we are doing some special construction things on this home to improve it's longevity and efficiency. There 2X6 external walls and these heavy duty floors. Most subfloors are 3/4 inch, these are 1 1/2 inches with tongue-n-groove locking system. There will be more of these interesting construction tidbits to come.
