The Painters arrived this week to stain and finish the Knotty Alder
Next week they will start painting the walls and ceilings and the other cabinetry
We experimented with all different kinds of stains with the Knotty Alder. I have never worked with the wood, so I was unsure of how it took the stain. Although it is a hard wood, it reacts much like pine. It required a 1st coat of Pre-Conditioner, followed by 2 coats of Black Cherry Stain. Then painters spray sanding sealer over the cabinets, sand in between coats, then finally putting a finish coat of Laquer all over the the cabinets.
